Description:
Arrowroot flour is naturally gluten-free and corn-free, making it a safer and more gentle option for people with gluten sensitivity, corn intolerance, or those avoiding highly processed grains.
Compared with cornstarch, arrowroot is usually less processed, easier to digest, and free from common GMO and pesticide concerns associated with commercial corn. Unlike wheat flour, it contains no gluten, is much lighter on digestion, and doesn’t contribute to inflammation or blood-sugar spikes linked to refined wheat. Compared with tapioca, arrowroot thickens more smoothly at lower temperatures, has a more neutral taste, and creates a clearer, silkier texture in sauces and desserts.
Typical Use:
Use as a thickener for sauces or in baking. If you use lighter thickening (e.g., sauces or fruit glazes), it can stretch closer to 35 servings; for very thick gravies or pie fillings, closer to 25–28 servings.
